The delicate balance and masterful lines of this sculpture are achieved through the use of simple tools, with Shona sculptures using chisels to sculpt with, sand and beeswax to polish the artworks. This emotive sculpture  deftly evokes the love of a mother for her child, while also using imagery to represent a love for mother Africa. This unique red stone is only found from one area in Zimbabwe called Mhondoro and is also known as Papoko stone.
